Quinta do Tedo Grande Reserva Savedra 2017
Overview: A barrel-selected wine from Quinta do Tedo's oldest Savedra parcel with over 18 varietals, averaging 60+ years old. Produced only in superb years. Estate-grown Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Cão and Tinta Roriz are the dominant grapes in Quinta do Tedo's Douro DOC Red Wines. To ensure more fruit and less acidity, the quinta harvests the grapes for the DOC Red Wines before the grapes harvested for the Portos.
Style: Douro DOC Red Wine
Age: 22 months in new French oak barrels.
Grapes: Old vines (60+ years old) from the Quinta's "Savedra" parcel; including Touriga Nacional (15%) and Touriga Franca (10%).
Tasting notes: Soft and full-bodied; flavors of blackberry and wood; structured by robust tannins with a long and persistent finish.
Enjoy with: Slow-cooked red meat-based pasta sauces, ragouts, stews, grilled or roasted meat, game with reduced sauces, dry, aged cheeses.
Color: Deep ruby with purple highlights.
Aroma: Orange peel, dry tobacco, mineral, wood and spice (black pepper).
Winemaking: Hand-picked; fermentation in stainless steel tanks (40%) and in French oak barrels (60%).
Suggestions: A full bodied and concentrated wine, open one hour before serving at 17°C/63°F.
