Taboadella is nestled between pine and eucalyptus forests on a granite plateau below Portugal’s Serra da Estrela mountain range. The Dão region, which was a favorite of the Portuguese Royalty, produces some of Portugal’s most elegant, pure and age-worthy wines.
With experience reviving the centuries-old manor house and vineyards of Quinta Nova, Taboadella’s sister-winery in Douro, the Amorim Family and award-winning winemaking team saw the potential to refurbish the ruins of this Roman villae ( “ancient settlement”) referenced on the labels. The megalithic boulder the Romans used to press grapes in the 13th century still stands on the property!
With a brand new tasting room perched above the vineyard this is a must visit for wine lovers looking to learn more about Portugal's incredible wine diversity. After a guided tour of the Winery and wine tasting in the Wine House, relax in the gardens or in the shade next to the vineyard with a delicious picnic.
