2020 Farah Trading Co Sonoma Syrah

Overview: This wine is close to my heart as it is made by my family on our small plot of land in Sonoma, CA. It is farmed organically, picked early so a lower alcohol wine. It is fermented in large, old California redwood barrels. We only make 150 cases! 

Varietals: 100% Syrah

Tasting notes: Notes of cassis and cranberry meld with herbaceous menthol and floral notes - lilac and roses. This is a light, lifted dry red wine, that can be enjoyed on its own or with food - it is incredibly versatile and speaks to the Syrah of the northern rhone. 

Enjoy with: Lamb chops, wild mushroom ragu, anything with eggplant. A perfect pairing for Mediterranean food.

The story behind the label: The label pictures my grandmother Farah, whose bold life experiences inspired Farah Trading Co. Farah was born in Hong Kong to a family of traveling Jewish Iraqi traders, importing and selling goods across the Middle East and Asia, tracing their roots to the Sephardic diaspora from Portugal. A portion of of the proceeds of this wine go to support both an arts organization in Portugal and one in the US.
