Joana here, Farah Trading Co's content writer writing to your from my home in Leiria, Portugal. Today I am sharing a salad that's basically a few delicious ingredients seasoned and mixed well together - a salad you can make in just three easy steps!
In Portugal, salad is usually a side dish and it changes slightly from north to south, coast to inland so when you come you can just explore them all, one restaurant at a time. I'm sharing the south of Portugal's Algarve version, which is a great side for any BBQ, because it will pair perfectly with either fish, meat or veggies.
The Algarve is a warm dry region and it has a Mediterranean weather which means it's nice all year and this type of salad is something that is perfect with pretty much any meat, fish or seafood, because it's quick and super fresh. Just cut those veggies, throw them on a nice platter and season well!
The secret is all in the quality of the ingredients, the fresher the veggies, the better it will taste and because the seasoning is also so simple, try to use a good quality olive oil (like our Quinta do Tedo extra virgin olive oil) and try not to skip on the dried oregano because they DO make a difference in the end.
If you're looking for an easier pairing than the grill, just open a can of seasoned sardines some slices of bread and a bottle of wine and you're all set!
