Joana here, Farah's food and wine writer writing to you from my home in Leiria, Portugal to share some versatile recipes form Portugal for your 4th of July BBQ. In Portugal we have a food tradition called "petiscos", which are small plates of food designed to be shared and enjoyed together. Petiscos are all about local food that's easy to make and delicious to eat - so petiscos are a perfect fit for the 4th of July!

The beauty of throwing a Portuguese pestico party is that instead of cooking a big roast for hours, you cook five or six easy different dishes in an hour to be enjoyed around the table with lots of bread and great wine.

To help you prep for the 4th, I'm including some of Farah's tried and tested petiscos and adding a Portuguese classic - piri piri chicken with an Algarve inspired tomato salad.
How about a delicious, quick and easy warm weather treat? Something that reminds you of the ocean and is just begging for a glass of vinho on the side. And before you think this will be a hassle, too much work and a ton of dishes to do afterwards, think again because it is the absolute opposite.
An easy to make, delicious snack that will impress your friends. You'll just wish you made extra, because this will fly and be gone before you know it!

Sangria is always a winner drink to serve to guests! It couldn’t be easier and the result is delicious 10 out of 10 times. All you really need is a big pitcher, ice, wine, fruit, something bubbly, some herbs and some spice. A super fun, easy to make, crowd-pleasing sangria that will definitely taste like summer!
If you try these recipes, make sure to review them! Thanks so much and enjoy!
